West Lake Forum brings international and local faculties together in China

International experts from across the United States, Chile and Italy recently joined local speakers including renowned nephrologists from across China and Hong Kong at the 3rd Nephrology Update Meeting, West Lake Forum in Hangzhou, China.

Translational lectures reviewed recent advances in renal physiology, pathophysiology of electrolyte alterations, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, renal replacement therapy and kidney transplantation. Topics also addressed problems associated with the growing epidemic of obesity and metabolic syndrome.

“Some of  the greatest minds in the field exchanged their ideas, challenged each other’s beliefs, refined their theories and arguments as well as adopted new ideas from their colleagues,” says Qi Qian from Mayo Clinic.

Meet the Faculty sessions allowed for more interaction in an informal setting to promote networking and information exchange. “Our faculty was met with people from a variety of backgrounds and career paths in nephrology and renal physiology,” adds Qian.

The international faculty led by Dr. Qi Qian also visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, Changzheng Hospital in Shanghai and the Tibet Traditional Hospital in Lasa.
