Organized by Professor Hung-Chun Chen and the Taiwan Society of Nephrology, it attracted more than 1000 attendees and focused on advances in hemodialysis as well as a comprehensive array of other important topics. These events continue to underline how ISN members actively engage and contribute to local and international events.
The three-day meeting started with the history of hemodialysis, mineral bone disease, micro inflammation and advanced techniques in hemodialysis. It then moved on to critical care in nephrology, anemia and nutrition. Natural disasters and medical economics of hemodialysis were also discussed extensively, looking at reducing the incidence and cost of early stage renal disease.
Many of ISN's familiar faces who have made a long term contribution to these medical fields participated in this meeting and gave presentations. The talks were followed by a welcome lunch hosted by ISN Taiwan Council member Chih-Wei Yang. David Harris, Vivekanand Jha, Philip Li, Peter Kerr, Kai-Uwe Eckardt, Masaomi Nangaku, Marc De Broe, William Mitch, Enyu Imai, Hai-Yang Wang, Xuequing Yu, Nan Chen, Wu-Chang Yang, Shiang-Jyh Hwang and several other ISN friends and colleagues came together for this closing social event.
