Klemens Budde, who leads the support center, spoke about complications of renal transplantation. In the dialysis section, Torsten Slowinski revealed the place of renal replacement therapy in treating patient with acute kidney injury (AKI) in the intensive care unit.
This testimony was followed by Dmitro Khadzhynov’s presentation on how the Charite Clinic is using citrate dialysis to care for AKI patients.
Many presentation were dedicated to kidney transplantation, Dr. Khadzhynov particularly highlighted the issue in elderly patients.
Kirill Komissarov, from the Minsk center, shared his report on clinical variants of IgA nephropathy. He presented 5 years follow-up involving 134 patients with IgA nephropathy who had received treatment in Minsk.
Valery Pilotovich contributed his experience of AKI modeling in experimental animals and results of treatment of ischemic reperfusion kidney injury in rats with different types of cell therapies. German colleagues presented the Third Edition of Nolph and Gokal’s Textbook of Peritoneal Dialysis as a gift to the scientific nephrological library at the center in Minsk.
