Awards for the pioneers of nephrology

To honor the “unsung heroes” of nephrology, ISN has created the Pioneer Awards that go to doctors who have achieved a major breakthrough to advance nephrology in a specific country or region.

Every year, participants in the ISN Programs invest time and effort into changing the landscape of nephrology. They also form crucial partnerships to advance nephrology in all regions of the world, bridging gaps in research and care.

During the ISN World Congress of Nephrology, from the Genius Bar at the ISN exhibition booth, a specially-assigned Social Media Task helped us to livestream some 80 congress sessions on social media,  Showing great enthusiasm and a true passion for nephrology, they made highlights from the congress available to those unable to join us in Mexico City.

The first ISN Policy Forum welcomed more than 200 participants representing over seven Latin American governments, policy makers, nephrologists, researchers, patients and other relevant stakeholders. They committed to the Conclusions of Mexico City, a 12-point set of measurable actions to curb the burden of kidney disease worldwide, specifically focusing on Latin America.

Between the talks and debates at the recent World Congress of Nephrology, the ISN awards were handed out to those who have made exceptional contributions to nephrology.

The ISN Global Kidney Health Atlas, presented at the ISN World Congress of Nephrology 2017 in Mexico City, highlights the huge gaps in kidney disease care and prevention in rich and poor countries alike.
