Happy World Kidney Day!

5910 1024x768pxToday, we celebrate World Kidney Day. This year, World Kidney Day is raising awareness about kidney disease, specifically putting the accent on the important, yet rarely acknowledged, role that obesity plays in the development and progression of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Applications are now open for this ISN Program, deadline is May 1st, 2017.

Introducing ISN’s Regional Training Centers

Eight Regional Training Centers have been assigned to help build more nephrology capacity across regions. Global nephrology partnerships are getting stronger as ISN Programs are increasingly delivering nephrology training across specific regions.

ISN Members can register, at a reduced rate, for the upcoming ISN endorsed Infectious and Global Nephrology Course 2017, taking place at the Royal Free Hospital in London on March 22 and 23, 2017.

The latest Lancet Kidney Campaign update focuses on cancer and kidney disease. The second and ninth leading causes of death in patients in the United States, respectively.

In this month’s Lancet Kidney Campaign update, Mark Perazella from Yale University tells us about the unique connection between these two maladies, and how it gave rise to the subspecialty area known as ‘Onco-Nephrology’. He also reveals the complex challenges and new opportunities it presents for the global medical community.
