Nurses training CME NepalThanks to support from the ISN Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program, Nepal welcomed doctors to the first meeting focused on peritoneal dialysis, taking place in March at the Charak Memorial Hospital in Pokhara.

A lack of skilled manpower, infrastructure and financial support are some of the main challenges facing the country's medical community today. Patients in remote areas also struggle to access the treatment they need.

Klara CME NepalOver 70 participants took part from centers across the country, including Dhangadi, Butwal, Dharan, Pokhara and the capital Kathmandu.

Practical sessions covered peritoneal dialysis procedures for nurses, catheter insertion for doctors, with small groups case discussions. Prof. Magdi Yaqoob presented the ISN slides and encouraged all participants to become ISN members.

Stanley Fan CME NepalFormer ISN Fellow Klara Paudel, Dr Stanley Fan, Prof. Magdi Yaqoob, Prof. Georgi Abraham and Dr Ananda Chapagain were among ISN member speakers who participated in the event and shared their expertise and experience of renal care.

They were joined by current ISN Fellows Dibya Singh Shah and Dhiraj N. Manandhar. The Nepal Society of Nephrology also held its annual conference in the days preceding the CME.
