This meeting was endorsed by the ISN Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program.

Over 300 participants gathered at this national meeting, taking place from January 28 to 29, 2019. The meeting is linked to an ongoing ISN Program that has been set up between Imperial College London (UK) and Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital (Sri Lanka).

CME Sri Lanka speaker FinkelsteinThrough the CME program, Dr Fredric Finkelstein, Prof. Edwina Brown, Dr Neill Duncan were invited to speak at the meeting and share their experience and knowledge. They also stayed on after the talk to teach during rounds at the hospital and discuss ongoing research projects with trainees.

According to Rajitha Abeysekera, Joint secretary at the Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology, AKI and ESKD are on the rise in Sri Lanka. 'Management is challenging due to a lack of resources and limited knowledge among health care workers as well as the general public. Therefore, it is mandatory that all health professionals are empowered with the knowledge and skills to detect and manage these conditions.'

The ISN Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program supports the conceptual design of local and regional meetings in resource-low countries by contributing to the organization of the meeting and helping arrange faculty for the meeting. Find out more, here.
