EAP and Fellowship welcome new program chairs Featured


Saraladevi Naicker and David Harris have now come to the end of their mandates as chairs of the ISN Educational Ambassador (EAP) and Fellowship Programs. We would like to thank them for their dedication and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Prof. Shan-yan Lin from Hua-shan Hospital at Fu-dan University was granted an ISN Pioneer Award at the recent ISN North and East Asia Regional Workshop, held in conjunction with the Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Nephrology (CSN) in Zhuhai,  China.

Nephrology training in a low-cost setting is more effective in understanding how to treat the poorest kidney patients in the world.

Nepal's dedicated nephrologists


ISN Fellows are actively changing the state of care for Nepal’s growing number of kidney patients.

Doctors at Moscow City Nephrology Center got a refresher course from Italian sister center on the symptoms of Acute Kidney Injury and a frontier view on some kidney diseases.

20151014 144359 resized 1An ISN-sponsored Pan-Palestine Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Conference was held in Nablus and Gaza City from October 12 to 18, 2015. The meeting was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge but also led to two kidney transplants being carried out on patients from the region.

Apply for the ISN Sister Transplant Center Program Featured


The next application deadline for the Sister Transplant Center Program is October 1st, 2015. All the information to apply is now online. Applications are now open for four new pairs to enter the Program.

It will be held in conjunction with Renal Week and the Russian Dialysis Society Congress. CME on the importance of renal registries Featured


1 Razeen DavidsISN Educational Ambassador Razeen Davids and several ISN Fellows took part in a Continuing Medical Education Course on data gathering and the importance of renal registries. Following the workshop, and discussions at the World Congress of Nephrology, there are now plans to establish an African Renal Registry.

RemuzziThis June, Past ISN President Giuseppe Remuzzi lectured at the Moscow City Nephrology Center. He updated the audience on the latest understandings of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and looked at new insights into defining, treating and the pathophysiology of membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN).

ISN Fellow Christopher NigeriaISN Fellow Christopher Obiorah just returned from his training at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, USA. He hopes to improve standards of care and start a renal pathology program in his home country.

Some 15,000 community residents aged between 18 and 75 years old were involved in an epidemiological study across Southern China. Based on a grant from the ISN Clinical Research Program, the project got further political and financial support from China (3 million RMB Yuan) and led to a grant from the European Union Seventh Framework Program.

ISN Fellows: latest application session Featured


Dr Kumar EAP fellowsFollowing the recent call for applications, the ISN Fellowship Program Committee is happy to announce that the program has once again received great interest and a record number of 50 complete applications from all over the world.

Fellowship EtienneMark your calendars as the next deadline to apply for the ISN Fellowship Program is December 15, 2014. The ISN Fellowship Program provides relevant and contemporary nephrology training for physicians from emerging countries, with the ultimate goal of improving the standards of nephrology practice in the fellow’s home institution.

The International AMA Certified Neonatal and Pediatric Nephrology Training Workshop and 3rd Indian Simulation Based Pediatric Dialysis Course will be held from February 28 February to March 1st, 2015. This meeting is certified with CME-AMA Type-2 Credits.

The ISN is partnering with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation to incorporate Acute Kidney Injury incidence data from the Initiative into the upcoming Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2014 Study.

The GBD Study is the world’s largest single source of leading contributors to health loss within society.  Incorporation of AKI into this study will allow for a seminal determination of the contribution of AKI to loss of life and health throughout the world during the past 2 decades.
