Being part of ISN is not just about what you receive as a member but also what you give. Your involvement contributes to the Society’s philanthropic and humanitarian activities, influencing kidney disease diagnosis and treatment worldwide.

The new year also welcomes Detlef Schlondorff as the new Editor of KI. To celebrate KI’s anniversary and as a ‘thank you’ for former Editor Qais Al-Awqati’s service to the journal, we've put together a selection of the articles — comments, reviews and research papers — that we've published over the past year.

We hope you enjoy them.  CLICK HERE to join the celebrations.

New address for ISN headquarters in January 2012 Featured

By

2012 marks a new era for ISN as the Society develops itself as an independently-managed Society, after several years of collaboration with association management partners.

Starting 2012, ISN is managing its activities from its own offices in Brussels, Belgium and the United States. This transition does not affect ISN members directly but is set to improve their overall membership experience – bringing them closer to those involved in managing the ISN programs and events.

The only important information to remember is the change of address for the ISN headquarters. As of January 1st, 2012, all correspondence should be directed to one of these addresses:

Japan: crisis and recovery Featured

By

This article was published on Kidney International by ISN President, prof. John Feehally, on 6 April 2011

An oft-repeated military adage is that 'no plan survives first contact with the enemy.' How true that must seem now to our Japanese colleagues. For them 'the enemy' was a giant shock and a devastating wave. Within a few moments the most thorough and careful civil defense planning of the Japanese institutions refined over many years was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of nature's assault on their shores. Those of us watching from afar by television could only imagine how difficult it must have been in reality—so much damage, so much human loss, so much uncertainty, so many needs.
