ISN Fellowship Program welcomes new recruits

Following the recent application session, the ISN Programs team is happy to announce that a total of 25 ISN Fellowships have now been approved, with 19 new ISN Fellows and six extensions.

Fellows from the Charite Clinic University Clinic in Berlin, Germany spent a month with two fellows from the Minsk center thanks to an ISN Sister Renal Center partnership. Local medical professionals Aliaksandra Hashchuk is an intensivist and Volha Dybava is a nephrologist.

ISN TTS patients webISN is happy to announce the latest list of transplant centers that have been accepted into the ISN-TTS Sister Transplant Center Program. These centers will take part in this program in 2016 following a call for applications in September 2015.

Behrooz Broumand was recently given the ISN Pioneer Award for the Middle East region. ISN President Adeera Levin and Chair of the ISN Regional Board for the Middle East Mona Alrukhaimi presented him with the prize.

This week, ISN Education is sharing its latest resources on the topic of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). The team have added two new video presentations from the AKI & CRRT Conference 2015 held in San Diego, California last February.

Prof. Shan-yan Lin from Hua-shan Hospital at Fu-dan University was granted an ISN Pioneer Award at the recent ISN North and East Asia Regional Workshop, held in conjunction with the Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Nephrology (CSN) in Zhuhai,  China.

The meeting was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge but also led to two kidney transplants being carried out on patients from the region.

Susan Quaggin becomes ASN's newest councilor

Susan Quaggin WCN AwardSusan Quaggin, a long standing member of the ISN, has now become the American Society of Nephrology’s newest Councilor. Dr. Quaggin will begin her term during ASN Kidney Week 2015 and will serve through Kidney Week 2022.

CME in Fiji raises CKD and AKI awareness

FijiA first ISN Continuing Medical Education course took place in Fiji’s capital Suva, from September 18 to 19, 2015, uniting the country’s medical community to talk about better kidney health. This meeting was made possible thanks to a developing ISN Sister Renal Center partnership with Australia.

Kidney disease does affect 1:10 adults. It is defined as: “abnormalities of kidney structure and/or function present for greater than three months, with implications for health.”

SRC application session is now open

The next application deadline for the Sister Transplant Center Program is October 1st, 2015. All the information to apply is now online. Applications are now open for four new pairs to enter the Program.
