Paola Romagnani is head of the medical department at the University Children’s Hospital Anna Meyer, Florence, and full professor and chair of nephrology at the University of Florence, Italy.
Professor Romagnani graduated with her Ph.D. in endocrinology and completed a residency in nephrology at the University of Florence, Italy.
She served on the editorial boards of JASN and Kidney International® (KI) and has published 266 papers in international journals. These include Science Translational Medicine, JCI, Nature Communications, J Exp Med, Blood, JASN, KI, Nature Reviews Immunology, Nature Reviews Nephrology, and Nature Disease Primer, among others. Her studies have received over 32000 citations.
She has given over 400 lectures at key international meetings of nephrology and other disciplines. In 1999, she was awarded the Hoechst Marion Roussel Young Investigator Award. She has received three European Research Council (ERC) Grants. From 2014 to 2019, she served as a member of the European Renal Association (ERA) Scientific Advisory Board. In 2020, she won the ERA-EDTA Award for Outstanding Basic Science Contributions to Nephrology.
