Kidney International (KI) is the official journal of the ISN, one of the most cited journals in nephrology and widely regarded as the world’s premier journal on the development and consequences of kidney disease. Dr. Pierre Ronco has been the editor-in-chief of KI since 2018 and is retiring on December 31, 2026.
Dr. Ronco is emeritus professor of nephrology at Sorbonne Université in Paris, France. He has devoted his career to the care of patients with glomerular disease and the identification of pathophysiological mechanisms and novel therapeutic strategy, particularly in the field of membranous nephropathy, and is an internationally recognized clinical investigator. He is an author of more than 500 research publications (New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Science, Nature Com.), and 30 chapters. His scientific contributions have been distinguished by several major honors, including the ISN Jean Hamburger award.
Dr. Ronco has held prominent leadership roles within the international nephrology community and has served the ISN for more than 30 years as councilor, program chair of four World Congresses of Nephrology (Madrid 1995, Milan 2009, Cape Town 2015, and Mexico City 2017), associate editor and editor-in-chief of KI.
Dr. Ronco will be recognized and celebrated for his outstanding and pioneering leadership of KI and service to ISN during WCN’26.
