Dr. Naoyuki Shimada is a nephrologist conducting basic research in the laboratory of Professor Yoshitaka Isaka at the University of Osaka in Osaka, Japan. He studies podocyte biology and glomerular diseases under the supervision of Dr. Jun Matsuda. His research focuses on Rho GTPase regulatory proteins that govern podocyte morphology and function, including actin cytoskeletal dynamics, focal adhesion turnover, cell motility, polarity, and adhesion, using time-lapse live-cell imaging.
