Patient Liaison Advisory Group

Patient Liaison Advisory Group

The ISN has launched the ISN Patient Liaison Advisory Group, composed of one patient representative from each of the ten ISN regions. The group will support the ISN’s efforts to shape policies to tackle kidney disease worldwide.

The ISN firmly supports WHO’s 1978 Alma Ata Declaration that “people have the right and duty to participate individually and collectively in the planning and implementation of their health care.”

Health services need to be inclusive, established by and for the communities they serve. With over 850 million people living with kidney diseases and a disproportionate impact from the pandemic and the climate change on this group, kidney patients’ voices must be audible and active in designing and implementing the policies that directly affect their lives.

The official launch of the Patient Liaison Advisory Group took place at the World Congress of Nephrology 2022.

Mission Statement

Created in 2021, the ISN Patient Liaison Advisory Group represents the inter-continental diversity of kidney patients with one representative from each of the society’s 10 regions. Its mission is to advise and guide the ISN so that the patient perspective becomes embedded within our work shaping health initiatives and research programmes so that they tackle the global burden of kidney disease.
