ISN-ACT Toolkit

Step-by-step guidance and best practices

Clinical trials provide essential evidence to guide the care of patients with kidney disease. As the global burden of kidney disease is growing, the ISN recognises the importance of supporting clinical trials around the world.

This toolkit is aimed at nephrologists and researchers in nephrology from all parts of the globe – regardless of their level of clinical trial experience and their local resources. It aims to provide a guidance for anyone wishing to start a clinical trial or to participate as a trial site. To find out how you can participate, or to provide feedback, please contact us on

The toolkit was developed by the ISN-ACT toolkit subgroup led by Brendan Smyth, David Wheeler and Thomas Hiemstra. Membership of the ISN-ACT toolkit subgroup can be found here.
