DOPPS webinar PDOPPS PD

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an important home-based dialysis modality for treatment of end stage kidney failure, typically varying from 5% to 20% use among all dialysis patients in many countries. This educational webinar will describe case scenarios addressing 2 important areas in PD patient care and related controversies: (1) treatment of peritonitis, and (2) optimizing fluid management.  Discussion will include recent PDOPPS findings in how peritonitis cure rates differ greatly by causative organism type and type of antibiotic regimen used in treating certain classes of organisms, and recent ISPD recommendations and work by Davies et al concerning fluid management in PD patients.

Learning objectives:

1. Optimal antibiotic treatment approaches for peritonitis due to different types of organisms
2. Fluid management considerations in PD patients
3. Understanding guideline recommendations regarding peritonitis and fluid management and areas in which evidence is still lacking or weak
