@ISNeducation Nuances in Nephrology Webinar – The Continuum of AKI, AKD and CKD: Predictive Biomarkers

  • 6:00 PM CEST

Acute kidney injury (AKI) was initially thought not to affect to the progression or development to chronic kidney disease. However, in the last decade seminal studies have shown that AKI predisposes to CKD and is not a mild and a transient disease. However, not all patients with AKI develop CKD. Several predictive biomarkers of AKI have been studied and are of great interest in the next future. In this Webinar we will review the impact of AKI in CKD, the currently known biomarkers and how to prevent the development and progression to end-stage kidney disease.

Learning objectives:

  • Investigate the impact of AKI on CKD progression, analyzing their interrelationship and understanding how AKI episodes contribute to the development and worsening of CKD.
  • Evaluate the efficacy of current predictive biomarkers for AKI and CKD, comparing their accuracy and reliability in identifying at-risk individuals and predicting the onset of these conditions.
  • Enhance early diagnosis and prevention strategies for AKI and CKD by developing methods for timely detection, intervention, and raising awareness among healthcare professionals and the general public.
