How did the ISN support enable you to advance kidney health in your home country?

The ISN fellowship has boosted my career tremendously. Upon my return home, I was immediately recruited as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaounde I. I was also posted as a consultant Nephrologist at the Yaounde Central hospital. I have honed my skills in the management of haemodialysis and post kidney transplant patients. My greatest achievement is being a co-author of a textbook chapter entitled “Metabolic and Electrolyte abnormalities in Kidney Transplantation” in the handbook of kidney transplantation in Developing Countries, published by the Oxford Press.

What does the future look like?

Cameroon is working on commencing living donor kidney transplantation precisely at the Yaounde General hospital. I look forward to being part of this transplantation team. I also hope to restart peritoneal dialysis in Cameroon.
