Women and Nephrology in the Developing World

Women nephrologists are slowly and steadily making inroads in various parts of the world where clinical nephrology practice is still in its developing stage. This webinar is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology and the newly formed Women in Nephrology-India chapter. The first talk of the webinar showcases the indomitable spirit of a lady nephrologist from Africa who will discuss the issues faced by women nephrologists in her country and the rest of Africa. The second talk is by a young professor in nephrology who is over the years with her painstaking research is giving us an idea about the Indian data in IgA Nephropathy. The webinar emphasizes the importance the societies attaches to developing programs that are diverse and inclusive.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn about practical issues about developing nephrology services in resource-constrained areas of the world.
  • Learn how to develop your own data about renal diseases which are common worldwide, but have a different clinical presentation and outcome.
  • Encourage young women nephrologists to develop renal services at their place and also initiate research activities in tune with the requirements of the local populace.
