ISN Webinar: Approach to Critically Appraising Systematic reviews with Meta-analysis

  • 10 AM CEST

Systematic reviews with meta-analyses are powerful tools that synthesize evidence across multiple studies, providing clearer insights into treatment effects, disease associations, and intervention outcomes. As part of the Interpreting the Evidence Series, this session will walk participants through the structure and methodology of systematic reviews and meta-analyses—highlighting how to assess study quality, interpret pooled estimates, and detect common pitfalls such as publication bias and heterogeneity. With expert-led discussions and case-based examples, participants will build the skills needed to evaluate and apply synthesized evidence in everyday nephrology practice.

Learning objectives:

  •  Understand the core components and methodology of systematic reviews and meta-analyses, including study selection, data synthesis, and effect measures.

  • Evaluate the quality of evidence and identify sources of bias, heterogeneity, and publication bias in pooled analyses.

  • Interpret and apply the findings from systematic reviews and meta-analyses to guide clinical decisions in nephrology.
