ISN global engagement in September: supporting kidney care education in Brazil, Australia, Italy, and South Africa  

This September, the ISN will contribute to nephrology events in Brazil, Australia, Italy, and South Africa, offering kidney care professionals opportunities to exchange knowledge, build connections, and share expertise.

 

33rd Brazilian Congress of Nephrology 

September 16-19, 2026 Belo Horizonte, Brazil 

This congress is an ISN Continuing Medical Education Program-supported meetingenabling speakers Marina Papaginovic Leiva (Argentina) and Jorge Rico Fontalvo (Colombia) to present at the event. Delegates will also hear a recorded message from ISN President Marcello Tonelli.  

 

TTS 2026, 31st International Congress of The Transplantation Society 

September 20-23, 2026 Sydney, Australia 

Join the TTS-ISN Joint Symposium “Pregnancy in renal transplant recipients – outcomes, barriers, and clinical management” on Tuesday, September 22, from 15:00–16:30 (Australian Eastern Standard Time). Session highlights include:

  • Margriet de Jong (Netherlands): “The pregnancy after renal transplantation OUTcomes registry (PARTOUT) in the Netherlands with granular data” 
  • Shilpanjali Jesudason (Australia): “Assessing risk and overcoming barriers in pregnancy after kidney transplantation” 
  • Sumoyee Basu (UK): “Supporting pregnancy in transplant recipients: current best practice care and controversies” 

ISN Transplantation Working Group member Curie Ahn will chair the session. 

 

62nd Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes – EASD 2026 

September 28-October 2, 2026 Milan, Italy 

Join the EASD-ECS-ISN Joint Session “Diabetes and kidneys – clinical challenges and opportunities” on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 08:30–09:30 (Central European Summer Time). Session includes:

  • Maria J. Soler (Spain): “Early combination therapy in diabetic kidney disease: is the time to act now?” 
  • Janaka Karaliedde (UK): “Clinical challenges and opportunities in diabetes management in end-stage kidney disease”

ISPD 2026 Congress in conjunction with the South Africa Renal Congress 2026

This congress is supported by the ISN Continuing Medical Education Program, with talks by the ISN president and ISN-supported speakers Peace Bagasha (Uganda), Abdou Niang (Senegal) and Sydney Tang (Hong Kong). In addition, there will be an ISN session and a Saving Young Lives (SYL) Workshop.
