Sister Renal Centers (SRC)

ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC)

The program fosters capacity-building partnerships between less-developed renal centers (Emerging Centers) with experienced ones (Supporting Centers). It comprises three levels of support providing a structured framework for collaboration and funding to foster up to six years of collaboration.

The Emerging Centers must come from Low-Income Countries (LICs), Lower-Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and Upper-Middle-Income Countries (UMICs) according to the World Bank classification. Each center in the partnership must have at least one ISN full member.

The program aims at enhancing the clinical practice of nephrology at the Emerging Centers through a variety of training exchanges. The long-term goal is for the Emerging Centers to become self-sufficient and advanced centers capable of providing better treatment and care for patients with kidney diseases and able to deliver training to other centers in their region.

After six years of progress and achievements in the program, graduated centers are encouraged to support a third center within their region, sustain the impact of their training and help this new center to develop.
