The results are out: R&P call for applications

Following the last call for applications, the ISN Research and Prevention Committee is happy to announce the list of applicants who are set to receive a grant to carry out an ISN Clinical Research and Prevention Program.

The ISN Clinical Research and Prevention (R&P) Program supports research and education programs in low-to-middle income countries, involving local nephrologists, health workers and authorities. The program helps implement research projects to detect and manage non-communicable chronic diseases such as Chronic Kidney Disease, hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. CLICK HERE to get more information.

These individuals will receive a grant from the ISN Programs in 2014:

  • Nicole Pereira Ribeiro (South Africa): A cross-over randomized controlled trial to determine whether end stage renal disease patients receiving chronic renal replacement therapy are more likely to have an improve lipid profile after including plant sterols as part of their dietary intake for four weeks
  • Jacob Plange-Rhule (Ghana): 12 year follow up of cohort of 1,013 40-75 year olds in 12 village communities in the Ejisu-Juabeng and Kumasi Districts: observations on changes in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and blood pressure
  • Grace Igiraneza (Rwanda): Incidence, Risk Factors and Outcomes of Acute Kidney Injury in the tertiary care, teaching hospitals of Rwanda
  • Sreejith Parameswaran (India): Comparison of clinical characteristics etiology and the clinical outcomes between the patients with community acquired and hospital acquired Acute Kidney Injury in a tertiary health care hospital in south India
  • Li Yang (China): The Incidence and Mortality of Acute Kidney Injury in China: A Nationwide Multi-center Retrospective Survey

The Asia Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) kindly co-sponsored two grants for the applicants from India and China.
