In memory of Natalia Tomilina
The ISN honors the memory of Natalia Tomilina, who passed away on June 17, 2025. A pioneering nephrologist based in Moscow, Russia, Dr. Tomilina was also a researcher and educator who played a key role in advancing kidney care. She served as an ISN council member, former chair of the Newly Independent States and Russia Regional Board, and in 2013, she became the first recipient of the ISN Pioneer Award from the region. Dr. Tomilina founded the Russian Dialysis Society and led numerous educational events in collaboration with the ISN. She initiated Russia’s first registry for patients undergoing kidney replacement therapy and conducted extensive research on kidney health. Her clinical, academic, and leadership contributions significantly advanced nephrology education, access to care, and health system development throughout the region.
