Strong engagement and strategic dialogue at the ISN Affiliated Societies Meeting

Participants at the ISN Affiliated meeting held during WCN’26

At WCN’26, the ISN Affiliated Societies Meeting  brought together representatives from 30 national and regional nephrology societies* to discuss, network, and exchange on shared challenges and priorities in kidney health.

The meeting, opened by ISN President Marcello Tonelli, was also the occasion for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uzbekistan Society of Nephrology, welcoming it as a new ISN Collective-member society and reflecting the ISN’s continued efforts to strengthen its global network.

Attendees took part in structured group networking discussions on how kidney societies might use the WHO’s kidney health resolution to guide strategic priorities and help elevate kidney care on national and global health agendas. They also discussed common national challenges.

Group representatives later shared key insights from these conversations, helping identify shared barriers and practical areas for collaboration. The ISN’s role in advocating for kidney care and in supporting professional development through its grant programs was widely acknowledged.
