Conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy–associated nephrotoxicity: consensus report of the 34th Acute Disease Quality Initiative (ADQI) Workgroup

Conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy remains essential in cancer care, but can cause acute and chronic kidney injury.

The 34th ADQI Workgroup reviewed the epidemiology, mechanisms, risk factors, clinical manifestations, prevention, and management of nephrotoxicity linked to commonly used agents.

The resulting consensus report emphasizes clinician awareness, early recognition of kidney injury, and preventive strategies to improve patient outcomes, while establishing a research agenda to address remaining evidence gaps in onconephrology.

Reforming Taiwan’s living kidney donation policy: achieving consistency and healthcare equity

Taiwan faces a severe kidney transplant shortage, with more than 8,500 patients awaiting transplantation and only around 430 transplants performed each year.

This editorial argues that Taiwan’s kidney donation policy is unfairly more restrictive than its living liver donation rules, despite no clear medical or ethical justification for the difference.

It calls for Taiwan to harmonize kidney donation rules with its successful living liver donation framework to improve kidney transplant access and outcomes.
