Apply now: mini-sabbatical nephropathology and renal pathology summer school

iSN Fellows group.

The ISN’s Renal Pathology Committee is seeking applications for one mini-sabbatical for a nephropathologist from a developing country as defined by ISN to travel to one of two major nephropathology courses, in conjunction with an in-depth study for a short-term stay, up to two weeks. Applicants will also have the opportunity for an additional one or two weeks of intensive immersion immediately following either of these two courses, under the mentorship of the directors or one of the faculty of these courses, in their renal pathology laboratories.

Due to the limited amount of funds, with a reward for maximum $2,500, additional funds should be sought from the home institution to support the minisabbatical.

International Summer School in Renal Pathology

The committee is also seeking applicants for a stipend of €1,000, generously supported by the International Summer School in Renal Pathology (ISSRP) (sponsors: Renal Pathology Society, International Society of Nephrology), to defray part of the cost of attending the ISSRP held in Bari, Italy, from June 10 to 21, 2013. Recipients of this stipend are required to first register for the school, paying full registration fee for this two week study. The full registration fee is €3,500. It covers school tuition including practical laboratories, study material, renal pathology text book handout, transportation to school, boarding and lodging, two social dinners. It does not include the airfare or transportation from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. A check of €1,000 will be given to the awardees during a social dinner. For further details on the ISSRP, CLICK HERE.

The purpose of these experiences will be to enhance the abilities and technical know-how regarding renal biopsies, building on an existing strong fund of knowledge in renal pathology. The applicant should specify whether he/she is applying to attend the Columbia University Renal Pathology Course “Renal Biopsy in Medical Diseases of the Kidney” to be held in New York City July 17-20, 2013, or the Amsterdam Renal Pathology Course to be held from May 22-24, 2013, or for the ISSRP partial stipend (to be held from June 10-21, 2013).

The applicant should submit a CV, a letter of support from the applicant’s institution and a statement of goals and objectives for this experience, focusing on his/her current knowledge in renal pathology and what will be gained from the proposed experience.

Applications should be submitted electronically before April 1st, 2013. Note: Nephrologists are not eligible for these awards. Nephropathologists from developed countries are also not eligible.
