Talking CKD state-of-care and best practice with Thailand’s nephrology community
After the first ever chronic kidney disease (CKD) weekend held this month in Thailand with support from the Nephrology Society of Thailand (NST), this meeting gathered students, residents, nurses and nephrologists, including researchers and members of the Ministry of Public Health people, to discuss and review the current state of CKD, and best practices.
I was asked to speak on CKD as a global health problem, and highlighted the current ISN activities with respect to ‘closing the gaps’.
A very engaging roundtable discussion was held, with myself and all the people in this room (representing the various hospitals around Thailand), to discuss CKD practices, research and other topics of interest including integration of CKD into diabetes and cardiology care, patient adherence, palliative care approaches, amongst others.
The discussion, planned for an hour, lasted almost 120 minutes…and we could have gone on for longer!
All in all, a fantastic opportunity to share amongst nephrologists and ISN leaders, and work on ways to collaborate in the future.
