Focus on H4KH Research Initiative at 2019 Danone Nutricia Research H4H Conference

In June, ISN attended the 11th Hydration for Health (H4H) conference in Evian, France.

ISN President Vivekanand Jha presented highlights on the Hydration for Kidney Health (H4KH) initiative, an ISN activity in partnership with Danone Nutricia Research, as well as on ISN’s global activities. Adeera Levin provided an overview of the results of the 2019 Global Kidney Health Atlas.   ‘Global Kidney Health Atlas: The burden and opportunities to improve kidney health through understanding inequities to care and treatment worldwide.

The ISN and Danone Nutricia Research have collaborated to create the H4KH Research Initiative to encourage established and new researchers to explore the role of hydration in kidney health. The initiative aims to expand the level of scientific evidence on the effects of hydration on kidney health, and increase research capacity.

As part of the H4KH Research Initiative, the ISN-H4KH Fellowship Program provides specific grants for research in this field. ISN-H4KH Fellow Dr Amarasiri De Silva presented his project entitled: ‘Drinking water and chronic kidney disease of unknown etiology in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.’
