Nurturing kidney health leaders: Applications open for the 4th cohort of ISN Emerging Leaders

The ISN Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) provides early-career professionals with an exceptional opportunity to develop influential voices to shape kidney care locally, regionally, and globally.

“I wanted to be a stronger leader and to advocate better for kidney health,” shares Robert Kalyesubula (Uganda), a member of the first ELP cohort that launched in 2021 and a current ISN executive committee member. “Taking part in the program gave me the tools to be able to collaborate effectively, build meaningful global networks, and strengthen my leadership skills. We were able to visit parliament, and actually, our government has increased funding for the kidney society.”

A number of members from previous cohorts have gone on to take prominent leadership roles in kidney health. Take Robert, for example, who has since become:

  • Founder and president emeritus, Uganda Kidney Foundation
  • Member, ISN executive committee (2025-2027)
  • Deputy chair, ISN African Regional Board (2025-2027)
  • Chair, AFRAN Education and Training Committee

This is a testament to the program’s growing impact, leading to outcomes that help drive kidney care reform, advocacy, and research where it’s needed most.

Apply by September 15, 2025, and help shape the future of global kidney health.
