Deadline to apply extended to Friday, 30 October 2020

About WKD

WKD started in 2006 and is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF).

It is the leading kidney health awareness campaign at a global level and strives to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health and reduce the frequency of kidney disease and its associated health impacts worldwide.

WKD SC

The WKD SC represents the two partner organizations who founded WKD (ISN and IFKF) with the aim to oversee the implementation of the WKD campaign. The WKD SC’s role is to agree on the specific goals and deliverables of the campaign plan as developed by the campaign partners, to approve the budget, assist in raising funds for WKD and foster the success of the campaign. Each organization appoints five members to the WKD SC. The ISN members on the WKD SC reflect the diversity policy of the ISN, and thus represent as best as possible geographical, age and gender perspectives.

ISN Member/ISN Deputy Chair of the WKD SC

The ISN welcomes expressions of interest and nominations for the position of ISN Member/ISN Deputy Chair of the WKD SC. The role of the ISN representative as a Member/Deputy Chair  is to ensure that the WKD campaign continues to grow as a key advocacy, communication and awareness raising campaign aimed at fostering kidney health worldwide with external stakeholders including international and national decision-makers, patients, media and the general public.

The ISN Member/Deputy Chair of the WKD SC is a key link between the WKD SC and the ISN so that information flow is maintained. ISN Leadership and members need to be updated as to the latest developments of the campaign. Furthermore, within their respective regions and regional boards, ISN WKD SC members will promote and increase the visibility of the WKD campaign.

This is a volunteer position for a period of approximately 2 years.

Following the end of their term, the ISN Member/Deputy Chair is expected to succeed the ISN Co-Chair of the WKD SC. The ISN Co-Chair of the WKD SC is responsible for facilitating committee meetings and reporting the committee’s findings to ISN leadership if required. Further to the requirements of a WKD SC Member, as Deputy Chair and then Co-Chair, a clear voice and good presentation and facilitation skills are important skills for this role in order to ensure that all committee members participate effectively and meetings run smoothly.

You need to be an ISN member to be eligible for the position.

ISN staff provides operational support to the partnership with IFKF, and the ISN Member/Deputy Chair of the WKD SC is also supported by their Regional Board and by the ISN Executive Committee representative for strategic issues as required.
