Patients receiving hemodialysis are especially vulnerable to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), but vaccine responses in this group are poorly understood.
In a small observational study, the RSV vaccine Arexvy produced robust antibody and cellular immune responses, although antibody levels rose more slowly than in people with normal kidney function.
Arexvy elicited robust immune responses in patients receiving hemodialysis, although antibody responses were delayed. Longer dialysis duration was associated with weaker antibody responses.

Available studies suggest relatively poor outcomes, with 17% to 37% of patients experiencing major kidney function decline or kidney failure within 12 to 36 months.

IgA nephropathy and lupus nephritis can have overlapping clinical and biopsy features, making them difficult to distinguish.
In three patients initially diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus and nephritis, KM55 staining showed strong positive results consistent with IgA nephropathy.
The findings suggest KM55 staining may help improve diagnostic accuracy in challenging cases and support more appropriate treatment decisions.
