The Role of Peer Support for Minoritized Individuals With Kidney Disease

Minoritized populations face barriers to quality kidney care, leading to suboptimal outcomes. Peer support programs are partnerships between individuals with similar sociodemographic backgrounds and health challenges. These programs have been successfully used to improve self-management and decision-making behaviors for patients with chronic disease.

Integrating robust, tailored peer support programs into kidney care may improve outcomes for minoritized populations with kidney disease.
