Continuing to advocate for global recognition of kidney health
At the fourth high-level meeting of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing, governments from around the world reaffirmed their shared commitment to tackling the world’s leading causes of death and disability.
Although there has been a delay in the adoption of the political declaration on NCDs at the meeting, it is now expected to move to a General Assembly vote for adoption as a resolution in the coming weeks.
The ISN will continue to build on this momentum, advocating tirelessly for kidney health and ensuring that kidney disease is recognized as a global health priority. Through sustained awareness-raising and engagement with decision-makers, the ISN is working to secure the full integration of kidney care into international health policies, in line with the recently adopted WHO kidney health resolution.
