ISN around the world: Celebrating excellence and education at global events 

ISN leaders are spotlighting global kidney health in the Middle East in November and in North and East Asia, Western Europe, and South Asia throughout December, and celebrating two 2025 ISN Pioneer Award winners. 

By sharing research, building partnerships, and amplifying regional voices, these engagements help advance the global conversation on equitable kidney care.  

November

19th Congress of Asian Society of Transplantation (CAST 2025)  

November 26-29, 2025                Zahra, Kuwait

A highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the ISN 2025 Pioneer Awardfor the ISN Middle East regiontoShahrzad Ossareh(Iran). Professor Ossareh has many roles at the Hasheminejad Kidney Center, Iran University of Medical Sciences, in Tehran, Iran, including professor of medicine, head of the Nephrology and Hemodialysis Section, and director of the Nephrology and Fellowship Program. The ceremony will include a recorded introduction by ISN President Marcello Tonelli, followed by remarks from a regional leader, celebrating Professor Ossareh’s extensive achievements.

December 5-7, 2025 Taipei, Taiwan  

23rd Asian Pacific Congress of Nephrology 2025 in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of Taiwan Society of Nephrology (APCN X TSN 2025) 

The congress will be preceded by the ISN-TSN Primer Course in Glomerular Diseases and a Saving Young Lives Workshop taking place December 3-4,2025.  

ISN staff will be on-site – visit us at our booth! 

December 5, 10:30-11 a.m. Taiwan Standard Time 

ISN President Marcello Tonelli, along with the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) President Xueqing Yu and Taiwan Society of Nephrology (TSN) President Mai-Szu Wu, will provide opening remarks at the opening ceremony.  

12:15-2:15 p.m. Marcello Tonelli will be one of the chairs of the Policy Forum, “Strategies to promote implementation of home-based dialysis therapy” 

1:30-2:45 p.m.  

ISN Past-President Masaomi Nangaku will co-chair the session, “Evolving treatment standards: Redefining renal anemia care” 

December 6, 1:55-2:45 p.m.  

Masaomi Nangaku will deliver the plenary lecture, “Revolution of nephrology: new therapies and digitalization”

54th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Nephrology (ISNCON 2025) 

December 18-21, 2025    Lucknow, India 

December 18, from 6:30 p.m. (India Standard Time), ISN Pioneer Award presentation 

   One of the meeting’s highlights will be the presentation of the ISN 2025 Pioneer Award for the South Asia region to Amit Gupta (India) during the opening ceremony. Professor Gupta is chairman and head of the Department of Nephrology & Renal Transplantation at the Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospital in Lucknow, India. ISN President Marcello Tonelli will introduce the award via a recorded message, followed by former ISN South Asia Regional Board Chair Narayan Prasad, who will highlight Professor Gupta’s outstanding contributions to kidney care in India, especially in peritoneal dialysis.
