Your research is published. Could it be award-winning?

Publishing original research in Kidney International® is already a significant achievement. If you are an eligible early-career researcher, take it further by applying for a KI-ISN Early-Career Researcher Award for the chance to raise the visibility of your work and be recognized at WCN’27.

Apply for a KI-ISN Early-Career Researcher Award by December 11, 2026

Why put your work forward?

At WCN’26, clinical science recipient Ping Liu was recognized for research that highlighted gaps in how kidney failure is identified and recorded, particularly when registries rely solely on kidney replacement therapy. Reflecting on what motivated her to put her work forward, Ping says:

“I applied because I believed our research addressed an important gap in how kidney failure is measured, with implications for research, clinical practice, and health policy.”

Recognition can draw fresh attention to research beyond its original publication and add an internationally recognized distinction to an early-career researcher’s professional profile. For Ping, the benefits extended beyond the award itself:

“The award increased the visibility of my research, particularly within my institution, where the recognition was widely shared. In addition, it provided opportunities to connect with other researchers interested in kidney failure registries and related research, helping to foster new collaborations.”

Could your paper be next?

Four awards are available: two in basic or translational science and two in clinical science, with each recipient receiving USD 500. Applications require a 500-word expression of interest outlining the research and its key findings, alongside a recommendation letter from the applicant’s research mentor.

For early-career researchers considering applying, Ping has straightforward advice:

“I would strongly encourage them to apply. It is a great opportunity to showcase their research to the international kidney community and gain recognition for their work.”

You have already completed the research and published the paper. Take the next step and put your work forward for recognition.
